  2. Hi Rob

Not True Outcast... on a couple of occasions i have had too land and adjust my carb setting due to heat.... But as you know i only use it for low level Slalom.

    We sell PPG meter....

I am not going to go on about them as i will be accused of being biased as we sell them

PPg come with CHT as standard but EGT (option) is a better gauge of engine of heating or running lean...

must be the way you are using it Mark, I have not heard anywhere of anyone having any overheating issues with the moster, now the polimi 200, theres another conversation entirely :D

  3. I was forward launching and a pal took a video we noted that the centre look like it was about to collapse in, at this point I released the A's and the wing fully inflated it then went left I corrected it was above my head but just as it lifted me it went over to the left dropping me on my arse, now I know I should have aborted well before but it was all head down (well up really) and I hung in there (lesson learnt) trimmers were on 3 and a light wind, I know its operator error and to be fair this is the most damage ive ever done in 5yrs and my 1st prop so cant complain really just always happens when you don't need it.

Im not sure but when trying to think through possible causes I don't know if I did but maybe I keep my elbows into my body rather than outstretched, sort of kinda get the feeling I did......:oops:

Neil the nuc has a stitched mark on the trimmers for launch, its out 2, 99% of the time I launch with the trimmers in that position, they like to be snatched of the ground two, just as it rises and is inline with the thrust of my motor I give it a little blip of throttle wich helps it pop up, they do like to keep moving on launch so once above you get running.

check out my steering the nuc around ahay bale last night lol

  4. Ok thank-you for your answers. The only thing now is what wing? Would I be best off with a reflex ?

I don't buy the argument for not listening to someones advice just because they sell a certain brand, don't dismiss advice from a dealer just because you think he may be on the make.

entry level reflex wings (revo2/ synth etc) have been around long enough now to be able to form an opinion on them from pilots that have flown them for some time, when deciding on a wing you need to think about the type of flying you are aiming for and if like some people you pick things up quick and will progress rapidly, is your eventual goal to compete or just be casual flyer? are you interested in just a little bimble around the skies every so often or are you going to be throwing yourself into this sport and spreading your wings on big XCs?

Reflex wings with a good speed range are ideal for all round flying, you may fly around most of the time in take off trim and be perfectly happy with that, but if the wind gets up while you are aloft you could find yourself struggling to make progress and its handy to be able to open the trimmers and jog along nicely.

also after your training has finished you may go off and find some flyers local to you who are all on reflex wings, flying with them will be no fun if you are always getting left behind and watching the windsock.

as for the two wings I mentioned, the REvo2 is proberly a bit more sporty and easier to launch, but the synth is a good solid wing too, and its dudek so its made well, both a pretty forgiving and wont get you in too much trouble should you be a bit heavy handed with them.

  5. Ok here's the deal I have an 2012 31m Nucleon but I'm not getting on with it just not flown enough and consequently I'm struggling, so sense is telling me take a step back and return to a Synth so anyone who is ready to move up to a Nucleon who maybe wants to do a deal please get in touch.

    Neilzy

Neil don't do it, I found the nuc takes a bit of getting used to, especially the launch, I thought I would never get the thing off the ground, however at some point it will just click and you wont look back, , its proberly the best intermediate all rounder out there, stick with it mate and just get down the field more often.

    you wont regret it

    Dave.

  6. Looking forward to it,Simon.

Just need this breeze to die down

I'd worked out doing one at a time would make you turn, till they were even, but I had no idea how pronounced the turn might be.

park the brakes, let the trimmers on one side out half way between where they are and full, then the other side the same, then the first one all the way then the second all the way, don't be too afraid of using the brakes with some trim out, on my Nuc I tend to put the trimmers out to about 7 for normal buzzing around and still use the brakes, if I let them out all the way I will only use the tip steering, if you aint got tip steering on your wing just reach up and grab the outer (stabile) line.

pulling the trimmers back in is the reverse of the above.

if you are looking to start using your wings performance more you mite want to start landing with different trim settings also.

above all else, have fun! :D

    Dave.

  7. That name does sound familiar but if I'm honest I can't remember for sure as my memory isn't great!

It was a pretty informal thing, I couldn't find that still going on hence looking for somewhere else. Plus a bit closer than Ware would be good.

I'm keen to get going asap while the weather is here!

I did my ground handling with Nick at westmill some years back, there were a couple of others there, I remember one chap called Frazer, Nick does not use westmill anymore I don't think, he flys occasionaly from a place in bennington, only person I can recommend in the area is Alex over at Rayne.

  8. Hi all,

I live near Hertford and have seen, a few times, paramotors overhead.

I was wondering if anyone in the local area offers tandem flights for people who aren't trained (like myself) to experience the flight of a paramotor? I am not looking for a free ride and am happy to pay for the flight :-)

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks

    Richard

theres a few of us flying in Hertfordshire but I don't know any place to get a tandem flight.

  9. yes only applied to use it for aviation again so he could fly his own microlight from there, however the neirhbour he had the dispute with told the whole village he wanted to turn it into a commercial airfield the size of biggin hill, he has spent the last year or so try to convince the locals this is not the case.

  10. That's very interesting Dave.. Mr Bovvie airfield hasn't been the most accommodating of people from what I've heard of other leisure/sports/pastimes that have expressed an interest in using the airfield in the past so lets hope he likes the idea of PPG!! It would be great venue!

I do have access to a couple of fields but have a long way to go..and yet to take my first step!

    Are you local?

    Dave

I am in potters bar, the owner of the airfield has had an on going dispute with one of the neibouring properties regarding access to the airfield, this has led to a smear campaign being waged against him in the village, he applied for planning permission to use the airfield for aviation again and has been waiting for the result of his application for some time, that's why no flying or any other activity has been held there as he does not want to rock the boat with the people of the village and have his application turned down.
